My(her?)Artist bio

Hello there, my name may or not be Sissy Nunziata, but regardless, here’s a little bit about my artistic practice. Firstly, I was born and raised in a very left minded household in Orlando Florida. Growing up, art was a cathartic tool I had, but I had no one who could relate to it. It wasn’t until my high school art class where I realized my true passion didn’t need to have a foundation of generational support and talent, but rather a community of diverse thought and ideas surrounding the art world.

As a creative, my goal is to shine light on issues with a comedic approach. Through gaudy representations of human figures and visual puns, I have found a way to approach the societal issues surrounding bodies and our ever-changing perspective of both ourselves and the world around us. As a growing female artist, I strive to highlight both my own personal identities as well as cultural identities surrounding the misconceived concept of beauty. Whether it be a topless woman with saggy skin, or a doll broken up into puzzle-like pieces, I aim to create visual pieces, both 2D, 3D, and interactive to create a space for conversation that is both deep and insightful, as well as light-hearted and funny.

My main medium is ceramic and sculpture, but I was brought up traditionally, with oil painting and drawing. Recently, I have wanted to expand my mediums whilst combining them to create full installations. Overall, my work is NOT Sissy Nunziata, but the heart and soul behind her skin.
